Race through the worst of it in the Ultimate Direction Ultra Jacket V2 — a 174g 30,000mm waterproof shell that's properly breathable, packs into its own chest pocket and exceeds UTMB mandatory kit standards.

DESCRIPTION

The Ultra Jacket V2 is the shell you carry on every long mountain day and pray you never have to use — but when the weather turns, you'll be glad it's in your vest. The 10D 2.5L nylon membrane runs 30,000mm hydrostatic head with a 30,000g/m²/24hr breathability rating, which is to say it's properly waterproof and properly breathable, comfortably exceeding UTMB's mandatory-kit thresholds. Integrated Flip Mitts™ tuck into the cuffs until your hands need them, the Tunnel Effect™ hood with a brimmed wire stiffener stays out of your eyes, and peristaltic underarm vents move heat out as you swing your arms. The whole jacket packs down into its own internal chest pocket.

If you're racing Skyrun in a Berg storm, lining up Ultra-trail Cape Town in late April, fastpacking the Drakensberg in shoulder season, or you simply want one truly waterproof shell that lives in your pack and doesn't punish you for carrying it, this is the one. The cut runs a touch roomy for layering and to keep the fabric off the skin.
